A Day in the Park

It's now summer vacation for Theo and his classmates, and classes are set to resume on September 3. In the meantime, Mommy D and Theo are killing the time by going to nearby parks, as long as the temperature isn't too hot. Here's a place called Himawari (see photos below) where they went to last Wednesday.

Click here for a short video clip. Note that Theo is speaking only in Japanese. As I mentioned before, if you don't tell him to speak in English, he'll only be speaking in Japanese the whole day, which is worrisome for me.

Theo and his classmates pose for posterity just a few days before the summer break.

Science Museum and Summer Splash!

Two weeks ago, Theo and I went to the Science Museum in Ueno Park. At his age, however, he wasn't too interested with the science stuff and exhibits, but when we entered the room where he can do some hands-on experiments, that was when his interest suddenly burst into flames. Of course, wherever there is a train that reminds him of his train collection at home, he never hesitates to have his picture taken in front of it, as you can see in the two photos below.

The following photos were taken at the experiment area where we spent most of our time at the museum.

Many months after buying them, his railways and train collection proved to be money well spent. Almost everyday, he would spend time arranging his tracks and running his trains.

He made the design in these two fans that he gave to his parents. It's one of their activities in school, we were told.

The Tanabata Festival is being held every summer in Japan and their school also had one. On the day of the preparation, the grandparents were invited in school to help the kids. However, because Theo's grandparents are in the Philippines, it was Gento-kun's grandma who helped Theo make his Tanabata wish.

The following three photos were taken at our veranda just this afternoon. The heat has been "scorching" these past few days, not to mention the awful humidity. And for Theo, there's no better way to cool down than to splash up!

Grumpy!

Most, if not all, of Theo's photos in this blog show him as either smiling, laughing, making faces, or just goofing around. For a change, I've decided to post a photo of him looking grumpy.

Since this photo was taken more than half a month ago, I can't exactly remember the reason why he was such in a foul mood. It was just the two of us who went out that day because Mommy D took some time off for herself. I guess it was probably because summer has arrived and he was starting to feel the heat and humidity.

Well, as they say, he ain't seen nothing yet. The mercury will continue to rise and next month will be hotter...and surely, he'll be grumpier than ever!

------------------------------
By the way, he was sick last Thursday; it must have been an upset stomach as he vomited in the clinic where Mommy D brought him that afternoon. He felt better the following day but we thought that it would be best if he skipped school to fully recuperate.

Thanks to Souta-kun's mom (Mrs. Nakamura) for giving Theo lots of health drinks! Thanks, also, to Sou-kun's mom (Mrs. Murata) for helping bring Theo home in her bicycle and giving some advice. Thanks, too, to Futaba-kun's mom (Mrs. Oishi) for helping find an available clinic on that day. We are sincerely grateful for these acts of kindness!
